Massiel Morales to represent Guatemala at Costa Maya

This curvaceous beauty proudly represents Guatemala and is looking forward to participating in this year’s Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant


The 20-year-old Massiel Rene Carrillo Morales has said “yes” and will take part in this year’s Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant representing her country of Guatemala. The statuesque secretary and model is five feet seven inches. Her favorite thing to do is listening to music. With the pageant set for August 3rd, the contestants will make several appearances around the island.

Q & A with Miss Guatemala

Q: What is your career ambition?

A: To become a great lawyer.

Q: What do you know about yourself that you did not know a year ago?

A: That I am braver than I thought I was.

Q: What one friend or relative has had the most influence in your life and why?

A: My mother, she is my best friend.

Q: If you could live anywhere in the Mundo Maya, where would it be and why?

A: In Peten, I love that place.

Q: What is your most valuable material possession and why?

A: My house, my parents gave it to me.

Q: What do you believe is the biggest problem facing the world today?

A: The war, because it ends many lives.

Q: List your most notable accomplishments. Include awards, scholarships and special achievements.

A: Miss Teen World Guatemala 2004 and Miss Mundo Guatemala 2006.

Q: Favorite book/author?

A: The Bible.

Q: Favorite movie?

A: The Gladiator.

Q: Do you have a hero? Explain your choice?

A: Yes I have one and it is Jesus because of his infinite love.

Q: Are you currently a student? If so where? Area of studies?

A: I am studying Law at the Mesoamerican University, this is my final year.

Q: Are you currently employed?

A: I work as a model.

Q: Why do you think these types of pageants and events are important?

A: Because they give you recognition.

Q: What do you hope to get out of participating in this pageant?

A: To win and represent my country.

Q: What do you think is the most important thing a family should have?

A: Unity.

Q: How would you describe your country to a foreigner?

A: The warmth of my people.

Q: Where is the most interesting place you have ever been?

A: Antigua.

Q: You are still very young and learning … but what do you think is the best lesson life has ever taught you?

A: That at times, even when you lose, you win.

   The Costa Maya Committee is still in need of sponsors to make this international festivity a raving success. But, what kind of sponsor would you like to be?

   Grand Sponsor: $25,000 donation of cash or a combination of cash and services. Grand Sponsors will have a street banner hung in a prominent downtown location one week prior to the Festival. Additionally, the company logo will appear on the sleeve of the official Costa Maya t-shirt, your logo will also be printed on all tickets and will be displayed at the festival grounds. The company will also receive prominent radio and print media recognition before and after the festival, plus a booth to display your product during the festival and twelve festival passes.

   Diamond Sponsor: $10,000 donation of cash or a combination of cash and services. Diamond sponsors will have a street banner hung in a prominent location one week prior to the festival. Additionally, the company logo will appear on the back of the official Costa Maya t-shirt, prominent radio and media recognition before and during the festival, plus a booth to display their product during the festival and eight festival passes.

   Platinum Sponsor: $5,000 donation of cash or a combination of cash and services. Platinum sponsors will have a street banner, logo display on the back of the official Costa Maya Festival t-shirt, plus acknowledgements on radio and print media and six festival passes.

   Gold Sponsor: $2,500 donation of cash and/or services. Gold sponsors will receive coverage on the radio and in the media, and four festival passes.

   Silver Sponsor: $1,000 donation of cash and/or services. Silver sponsors will be acknowledged in the print media and receive two festival passes.

   Bronze Sponsor: $500 donation of cash and /or services. Bronze sponsors will be acknowledged in the print media.

   Friends of Costa Maya: Any donation below bronze sponsorship is acknowledged as a friend of the Costa Maya Festival.
