First Ever Special Education Unit opens at Holy Cross Anglican Primary School

The first Special Education Unit in San Pedro officially opened on Wednesday, December 6th at 10:00 a.m. The Blessing and Dedication of the designated Special Ed classroom second Infant I classroom at Holy Cross Anglican Primary School was done by Bishop Philip Wright of the Anglican Diocese of Belize. Mrs. Carol Babb, General Manager of Anglican Schools and local officials were also present.

    In a speech delivered by Mayor Elsa Paz, she mentioned that with the rapid growth of the island, also comes more need for education, and she commends the efforts of Holy Cross Anglican School, and offered her support. During the ceremony, Francis Wilson also took the opportunity to thank volunteers who helped immensely with the completion of this unit, and also recognized the outstanding efforts of the staff of Holy Cross.

    The Special Education Unit is part of Holy Cross Anglican Primary School and is located just north of the bridge in the San Mateo area. Parents of children with physical, mental, emotional and/or developmental concerns are asked to contact Mrs. Francis Wilson at 610-3421 for information on enrolling their child.

    (Holy Cross Students also held their Christmas pageant on Sunday, December 10th Students performed for parents and guests at the Holy Cross school grounds. Despite the weather, the pageant was quite successful - and students’ enthusiasm was not to be deterred!)
