Every year the San Pedro Town Council honors all mommies by hosting a delicious dinner with raffles and entertainment. This year was no different, and the venue was the Central Park. Upon entering, instead of receiving the traditional red roses, mothers got a nice gift teddy bear as a beautiful souvenir.
Hosted by Reef Radio’s Eiden Salazar, the night kicked off to a great start and had dance performances by the San Pedro Dance Company and Take the Lead. Throughout the commencement event, mothers had many chances to win a plethora of gifts, graciously, kindly and lovingly donated by the various businesses around town. The chance to win a prize was incentive enough and had mothers running to the stage to claim the prize. Mothers with red cell phones ran to the stage as only the first one there would win, mothers with red shoes, three generations of mothers, and for the lucky mothers who had gold stars on the bottom of their teddy bears, chairs and food plates. It was fun and laughter all night long.
A delicious turkey dinner with all its trimmings was served and mothers had a choice of soda or rum punch to enjoy. Orange or chocolate cakes rounded out the desserts.
The announcement of Mother of the Year came and the recipient was Juanita Ake who happily accepted her crown and sash. Other prizes that she received included: a Mother of the Year Plaque, a crystal souvenir from Gecko Graphics, $500 Cash, $150 Gift Certificate from Rapidito Loans, $100 Gift Certificate from Blue Water Grill & $100 Shopping Spree.
The night was rounded off by the musical performance of The Comical “Mayino Show” who entertained all with his imitations of Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel and even Paquita la del Barrio. Laughter, song, and dance were the order of the night as everyone chimed in and joined their voices to Mayino. With jokes, flurry and much festive mood it is great to know that all mothers had a rocking good time. The music of Rompe Raja entertained everyone into the wee hours.
