On Friday, May 9th, 2008, as part of Mother’s Day, the San Pedro Lions Club hosted a Mother’s Day gala and took the opportunity to crown incoming San Pedro Lions Queen 2008-2009, Susie Rodriguez.
Throughout the night, friends, guests and family were entertained by “El doble de Juan Gabriel” directly from Mexico City Jose Gabriel. With many jokes, great humor, dancing and fabulous entertainment, Jose drew his crowd’s attention and kept it until the very end. The crowd’s favorites were song by Jose and everyone marveled at the likeness of his voice compared to the artist.
Many were the raffles awarded that night, as upon entering the function every person received a ticket which made them eligible for the many prizes. Mothers anxiously awaited the call of their names and one-by-one they stepped forward to claim their prizes. From trips, appliances and gift certificates, each mother was thankful and appreciative of the gesture.
When the awaited moment arrived, the reigning Miss San Pedro Lions Queen Jamera Craft illuminated the stage with her presence. In her impromptu speech Jamera thanked the San Pedro Lions Club for giving her the opportunity to represent their club and continued by saying that the experience had been very enjoyable and educational as she had the opportunity to meet other parts of the country and make many friends.
In her acceptance speech, incoming queen Susie Rodriguez pledged to do her best to represent the San Pedro Lions Club at the upcoming national convention to be held in San Estevan this month, and throughout her year of reign.
Susie Rodriguez is currently a business student at San Pedro High School and first runner up in the Miss San Pedro pageant in 2007.
Congratulations to Susie and good luck on her reign.
El Doble de Juan Gabriel was in collaboration with The Reef Radio.
