BTB branch office in San Pedro a reality!

A toast to the new BTB office.

The interior is cozy and inviting.

The dream of San Pedro having its own BTB (Belize Tourism Board) branch, a dream envisioned by the Board of Directors and Minister of Tourism Manuel Heredia Jr has finally become a reality when on Wednesday morning, the office was officially inaugurated and open to the public. Gone are the days when trips must be made to the mainland for tourism queries and this occasion was yet another milestone for the Belize Tourism Board as they strive to improve and support the needs of the Tourism industry, especially in San Pedro.    

    On hand for the official ceremony was Tourism Chairman Gach Guerrero, Mayor of San Pedro Elsa Paz, Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr, President of the BTB Tracy Panton and Board members Einer Gomez, Elito Arceo, just to name a few. Master of Ceremonies for this momentous occasion was Evan Tillett of the BTB. The formalities began with a harmonious rendition of the National Anthem sung by the San Pedro Roman Catholic school students. After a prayer, the welcome remarks was delivered by Gaspar ‘Gach’ Guerrero who rest assured that the opening of the office was the first step to avoid necessary trips to the mainland and that it will benefit not only San Pedro but Caye Caulker, and other offshore cayes.    

    On hand to deliver the keynote address was Minister of Tourism Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr who stated that whilst the booming tourism industry keeps growing several more offices will be open throughout the country to facilitate and serve the industry. The honor of the closing remarks was presented by President of the BTB, Tracy Panton who shared with the congregate that they will work diligently with the San Pedro branch to ensure that the tourism services are improved but ultimately to enhance the experience of all our visitors. Honorable Manuel Heredia, Mayor Paz and other dignitaries had the honor of cutting the ribbon, whilst shortly after, Father Dan blessed the building. Director of the BTB Board of Directors, Elito Arceo made the official toast and well wishes for a prosperous project. The BTB San Pedro branch will house the office of the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr. The office administrative manager is Amy Leiva whilst Marleni Bradley has been assigned the position of cashier. Opening hours of the office are from Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5pm.
