Held at Central Park, the United Democratic Party (UDP) candidates presented their manifesto to the residents and voters of Ambergris Caye. Present for the occasion was Party Leader and Prime Minister Honorable Dean Barrow, Area Representatives for Port Loyola, Belmopan and Belize Rural South, Honorable Anthony “Boots” Martinez, Honorable John Saldivar and Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr., respectively. Joining them on stage was the Mayoral Candidate Elsa Paz along with her six councilors who are the candidates vying for votes: Pablo Ico, Justinano Guerrero, Severo Guerrero, Joe Elijio, Romel Gomez and Juan Alamilla.
Throughout the night, the speakers encouraged voters to “Keep Progress Alive” and vote down the red line. “The job is not yet done. The next three years will see many more improvements in the community to ease the burden of living for the residents of San Pedro. More new streets, more electricity and water supply, more sporting and recreational facilities for our young and older residents and citizens, more housing opportunities, more crime prevention, more job opportunities, more protection of our environment and more development,” stated Paz.
The UDP 7 released their Plan of Action which consists of: Governance and Taxation, Tourism and the Environment, Social and Cultural Services, Infrastructure, Law Enforcement, Traffic and Transport, Town Planning, and Disaster Management.
