Not even the rain could have stopped food lovers from experiencing the annual Savor San Pedro Food Festival. San Pedro boasted the best in the local culinary industry as booths brought out their very best to the public. Food lovers crowded the stands as early as 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7th, and weathered the rain to fill their tummies with the mouth-watering dishes that were on sale at discounted prices at the Central Park.

After a night of live music, dance entertainment and food galore, a panel of judges, who had the opportunity to sample the scrumptious platters from all the booths, called their shots. Best Appetizer was awarded to Sunset Bar and Grill for their delicious shrimp brochette; they also took the prize for best Main Course Meal of scallop pasta. Black Orchid Spa inspired the drinking taste buds of the public and judges picked their unique Ginger and Cranberry Mojito for Best Drink. Hummingbird Café took home the Best Desert Award with their delicious flan. Pirate Pizza staff did a great job in entertaining their customers while waiting for their slice of pizza and seafood chowder took home the Most Enthusiastic Booth Award.

According to one of the organizers Rebecca Arceo, the event was a great success. “It was satisfying and we were pleased to see this year’s turnout especially those who enjoyed the discounted prices on the food, it encourages our local business to know that they are doing well,” stated Arceo.

Winners in each category walked away with a trophy and the prestige of being one of the best restaurants on the island. The organizers of the event would like to thank all those who made the Savor San Pedro Food Festival-2009 a success and The Sun congratulates all the winners for a tasty job well done.
