San Pedro Town Board working to keep San Pedro greener

ABC Pre-schoolers plant a palm at san Pablo Chapel

On December 12th, 1997, ABC Pre-school students along with teachers, Deputy Mayor Elito Arceo and other members of the community, visited the San Pablo Chapel to clean and plant flowers and palms donated to the town board for their beautification project.

The project is a part of the town board's campaign to keep San Pedro greener. The town board has been complaining for several months that the plants they have worked hard to plant in parks and around town have been vandalized or stolen. The plants have been replanted time and time again (especially in Central and Friendship Park) only to be trampled or uprooted. Due to this problem, areas such as Esmeralda Park, have been left virtually bare.

According to Deputy Mayor, Elito Arceo, the town board is trying to encourage school children and teachers to adopt a park or church compound. The responsibility that comes along with the adoption of the area entails keeping the area clean, planting trees and general maintenance of the grounds. The first set of school children and teachers to adopt an area has been the ABC Pre-school who adopted the San Pablo Church compound. It is the hope of the town board that the other schools will follow and through their efforts make our community more beautiful.
