Lions at Convention

Local Lions at Parade in Belize City

Convention is a time to look at your proud past and to plan ahead for a brighter future. That is exactly what Lions did at the 21st annual convention of Lions of District 59 which included five clubs in Belize. Enlightening speeches were delivered, leadership training took place, and preparing of new presidents and new secretaries for the clubs also took place. To add to the fun of a convention, there were various types of entertainment.

The San Pedro Lions Club brought home such prizes:

  • 2nd Place - Queen pageant
  • 2nd Place - Float
  • 1st Place - Cultural Presentation
  • 1st Place - Best Organized Club
  • 1st Place - Club with Largest Delegation
Outgoing governor, Baldemar Graniel, gave his report and asked the club to keep pressing for a brighter future while Incoming Governor, Angel Nuñez expressed the need for greater harmony and more motivation so that we can have more productive clubs and energized membership. Nuñez expressed his interest in having more clubs formed in Belize so that we can reach out to a greater part of our population and to maintain our international district status.

The convention also featured a dance with Andy Palacio and the Youth Connection Band, a trip to the zoo and a parade in Belize City.
