San Pedro to receive facelift

The long awaited answer to what will be San Pedro's solution to the mud problems and potholes cause by rain has been answered. In addition to this, a new project with regards to North Ambergris has also commenced.

Eng. Cadet A. Henderson, Chief Engineer for the Ministry of Works visited San Pedro Town this week to start planning a design for the construction of a bridge at Boca del Rio to connect with North Ambergris Caye. Mr. Henderson's design will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance for approval. At the same time, he commenced estimates for the proposed paving of Tarpon Street and part of Coconut Drive. This has been necessary since these streets are affected mostly when it rains. The estimate will also be submitted to the Ministry of Finance. During his visit, he also observed improvements needed to the main pier. Detailed information with regards to these projects will be featured in upcoming issues of the San Pedro Sun.

The San Pedro Sun also contacted the Traffic Committee in regards to stories circulating around town regarding the closing of Barrier Reef Drive to vehicular traffic. We were informed that no mention of this idea has been discussed at recent meetings.
