Belize, San Pedro to Host Caribbean Dentists
Belize, as the host country, is inviting dentists from the United States and Canada to participate. Dentists from Central America and Mexico are also invited and Spanish interputers will be provided for partisapants from these countries. Seminars will include speakers on oral surgery, forensic dentistry, periodontology, endodontics, volunteer dentistry and an amazing exhibit of Maya dental artifacts. This is a unique opportunity for dentists from many countries to get together for learning and fellowship. Spouses will be included in the opening presentation "sights and sounds of Belize" and a special evening hosted by the Governor General, His Excellency, Sir Colville Young and Lady Young. The evening will include cultural presentations, food and drinks on the grounds of Government House in Belize City.
Total cost for the dental seminars and special events in Belize City will be $100 U.S. On the Sunday following the conference participants are invited to spend the day on Ambergris Caye. Dentists from all over the Caribbean can enjoy the beach and explore the small fishing village of San Pedro. A special Maya exhibit will be on display. A beach bar-b-q will be held mid-day. The cost of transportation from Belize City and the beach bar-b-q will be $50US.
Wil Lala, D.D.S. is a graduate of the dental school at the University of Nebraska. Wil is still active in the volunteer dental program for Belize. Dr. Lala is currently working with the Belize Dental Association in preparation for the upcoming CARDA (Caribbean Dental Association) bi-annual meeting.
