Fisheries Regulations amended

Statutory Instrument No. 68 of 1997, signed by the Hon. Russell Garcia, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and included in the Belize Government Gazette No. 34 of July 19, 1997, amended the Fisheries Regulations as follows:
"2 (a) crawfish with a cape length of less than 3 inches may be taken in the waters of Belize for aquaculture purposes under a special licence granted by the Minister;

2 (b) crawfish that is berried, (has eggs), may be taken in the waters of Belize for aquaculture purposes under a special licence granted by the Minister.

3 (3) No person shall set or leave in the waters of Belize any lobster traps between the 15th day of February and the 14th day of June, inclusive, without a special permit granted by the Minister."
The licence granted to A&J Aquaculture (James Wang) by Minister Russell Garcia of Fisheries and Agriculture on the 28th of April specifically states that juvenile lobster shall not be collected during the closed season and that berried (bearing eggs) females cannot be collected.
