Culminating two months of discussion, a Monday, September 16th meeting bertween San Pedro Football Club representatives and Kenneth Payne and Lane Llewellyn of Dolphin International resulted in an agreement of financial support for the San Pedro Football Club for a three year period. The club has been struggling financially to maintain a first class football team. This year has been especially difficult, since success, with the additional football games to be played, brings expenses. The Dolphin offer of support begins immediately and will continue for a period of three years. Mr. Payne pledged $20,000 BZ. per year for the support of the club. The club will be known as the "Dolphins", but it is emphasized that continual and additional community support is needed. Many community members and businesses have and continue to support the club in different ways. As an example, Elvi's Kitchen, in addition to financial support, provides breakfast for the players and three meals a day for three players.

Kenneth Payne is the President of Dolphin International Development Ltd. of Sarasota, Florida and Lane Llewellyn is the Public Relations Manager. The company has already made a number of donations in San Pedro, including substantial donations to the Boca del Rio Park and the San Pedro R.C. Primary School. In the sports field, a considerable stock of football equipment was also donated to the high school. Dolphin International, in conjunction with McIntosh Alliance International Ltd. of New York and DiLeonardo International Design Architects of Warwick, Rhode Island, plans on building a 65 million dollar project 13 miles north of San Pedro on 200 acres at Punta Azul. The project will be built in phases over a ten year period and the developers hope to start construction in the next few months. They hope to have three model residences, 24 hotel rooms and seaside facilities ready for the 1998-99 market. The completed project will contain one hundred and fifty guest rooms, fifty three bedroom villas, one hundred two story, two bedroom townhouses, and two hundred two story, one bedroom apartments.
