Donations Help Buy Grader

A new (to San Pedro) Caterpillar 120 grader was recently purchased by the San Pedro Town Board. The machine, currently in the United States, is on its way to Belize. It will be used to grade the roads and also to complete the marina located southwest of San Pedro. The purchase of the grader was made possible due to a $10,000 Bz donation and another $10,000 Bz committed donation. In addition, Clifford Chudleigh and Charlotte Minyard have donated $8,000 towards the purchase of the $32,000 Bz grader. Mr. Chudleigh and Ms. Minyard located the grader and arranged for its purchase and shipping to Belize. They will also be transporting a 12 hinge suction dredge to San Pedro for use in completing the marina. The current dredge being used to fill lots west of the airstrip is an 8 hinge dredge originally purchased to dredge the Belize River in Belize City. The Chudleigh/Minyard dredge has a larger capacity. They have negotiated an arrangement with the San Pedro Town Board where their dredge will complete the dredging work at the marina and the channel leading to the marina. The material dredged will be their compensation. The San Pedro Town Board will receive a special price on materials for use on the roads and fill projects.
