Los Ilegales to headline festival

Los Ilegales of the Dominican Republic

by Dorian Nuñez

The International Sea and Air Festival is proud and excited to announce the performance event of the festival, Los Ilegales, who will be performing on Belize Night, August 23.

The smashing hit "La Morena" was in their self-titled debut album, which made Los Ilegales one of the most popular Latin groups in North and Central America and the Caribbean. Now they have released "Rebotando" their second album featuring "El Taqui Taqui". With their smooth, energetic and up-beat meringue/rap combination, Los Ilegales will be a sure hit at the festival, entertaining people of all ages. The Sea and Air Committee worked hard in obtaining a top performing artist for this year and now Los Ilegales promises to "bring down the roof." After negotiation, Los Ilegales showed interest in performing at the festival in "La Isla Bonita" of San Pedro, since they have not visited this part of Central America and would very much like to visit and perform in Belize.

Joining Los Ilegales on Belize Night will be Andy Palacio, one of the brightest artist that Belize has to offer. Also confirmed for Belize Night is Santino's Messengers band. More information and pictures of Andy and Santino's Messengers next week.

Taca International Airlines tops the list of sponsors, being the Grand Sponsor for the Sea and Air Festival. The San Pedro Town Board, the Belize Tourist Board, Cuellos Distillery, Bowen and Bowen and Love FM fall under the Diamond Sponsors list. The San Pedro Sun moves up the list of sponsors into the Gold Sponsors list, joining Maya Airways, Bonanza Airlines, Ramon's Village and Mike Hotchandani. Silver Sponsors for the festival are Island Air, Pete's Enterprises and Caribbean Depot. Falling in the Bronze Sponsors list is Belize Bank and Maple Plastic. Special sponsor for of the festival is Dolphin International as they will be sponsoring Gaylene Dawson, who will be representing Belize at the Reina De La Costa Maya International Pageant.
