Starting on Friday April 25th to the 27th, the Lions Club of San Pedro Town will host the 20th Anniversary District 59 Convention. On Friday evening April 25th, 1997
At 8:00 p.m. on the "Five A Side Court" near the Airstrip, the opening ceremonies will be held with main speakers such as International Director, Terrence Innis from Trinidad and our local Guest Speaker Fr. Jesus Riverol. There will be cultural presentations by each Club of the District 59 and also "Remembrance of Deceased Lions" since the inception of Lionism in Belize. After the Closing Remarks by Lion Steve Schulte, all conventioneers are invited to visit the Hospitality Booths which will have a lot of goodies to enjoy.
On Saturday morning April 26th, 1997
The morning starts with a Breakfast Meeting for all Incoming
Presidents, Secretaries, Governor at 7:30 a.m. served at the Holiday
Hotel. Seminars at the Lions Den will follow at 9:00 a.m. where the new
District 59 Governor will be elected. At 12:00 p.m. the fun starts with
a Beach Bar-B-Q at San Pedro Holiday Hotel beach. This will include
lunch, swimming, boat trips to the reef and Hol Chan or just plain
relaxation on the natural pool at Celi's Dock. (Conch, Fish & Shrimp
cebiches will be available for sale with the famous "Chico's Special")
Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
everyone gets ready for the First Local &
International Gala Night. This will all be held at the Five-A-Side
Court. A Super presentation of real local and international artists from
all Districts of Belize. There will be punta rockers, National Dance
Group of Belize, young talented singers, dancers,and many more surprises
for the evening. Of course our super presentation will be the one and
only "Choco Mil" from Mexico, famous comedian and imitator of
international artists like "Ana Barbara, Juan Gabriel, Pinpinela, Kiko
and many others. It will be a night to remember. Following, the show, a
Convention Dance will follow with "Wil and the Caribbean Shells." until
3:00 a.m.
On Sunday April 27th, 1997
An Ecumenical Service Mass will start at 9:00 a.m. and at 10:30
a.m., there will be a Grand Parade with floats through the main streets
of San Pedro. The parade will end at the Lions Den where food will be
served and the District Governor will make presentations of awards and
prizes. A jump - up will follow until conventioneers are ready to go
back home.
All of these will entitle you for your registrationThe Den is opened every night from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. for registration.
