Beauty pageant lovers will be happy to know that the selection of Miss San Pedro 1997/98 will take place on September 19th, 1997, at 7:30 p.m. at the old football field. Tonight, Friday, September 5th, the official opening ceremonies of the September celebrations will take place at Ramon's Village and will include the official sashing of Miss San Pedro participants.

This year, four lovely young women will be vying for the prestigious title of Miss San Pedro: Miss Nelay Perez - sponsored by San Pedro Hardware, Miss Vanya Vasquez - sponsored by Ramon's Village, Miss Sandra Gutierrez - sponsored by Graniel's Cabinet Shop, and Miss Janilie Lizama - sponsored by Nova Shrimp. During the two weeks before the pageant the charming ladies will enjoy trips to popular tourist destinations and dine at several fine restaurants on the island.

The pageant will also showcase talented artists and performers. After the selection of Miss San Pedro a grand dance will follow with the "One World Band," from Cayo.
