1996 San Pedro Ninos Christmas Party

Santa Claus and his Elves at Central Park
The Ninos Christmas party which was held on Wednesday, 18th December, 1996, for the children of San Pedro Town, proved to be a great success.

Children flocked to the Central Park (there was a change in venue from the football field west of Rock's market) where the organizers prepared an evening of festive and charitable activities. Mr. Angel Nunez was the evening's commentator. Santa took center stage and along with his "little helpers" and other volunteers, were busy at work dispensing gifts and hugs to the children that attended the event.

According to a press release from Mr. Darrell K. Cloud, Branch President of the San Pedro Church of Later Day Saints (LDS), the party was very successful and an unprecedented number of Ninos and parents were present. The evening's schedule had to be rearranged and many Christmas stories and events could not be presented.

The party was sponsored by The LDS Church of San Pedro in conjunction with the SunBreeze Hotel, the San Pedro Town Board, San Pedro Distributors, the Salty Dog Gift Shops and the District High Council of the LDS Church.

The Church would like to thank all the people and businesses who contributed cash or other products to the Christmas party and to "Santa's Helpers" who did such a great job. The LDS is very pleased with their effort to present the "True meaning of Christmas" and will try to be better organized next year. The Church would like to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas and a most prosperous New Year.
