Sixth Annual Poetry Contest Entries and Sponsors Flooding In

Entries for the Sixth Annual Poetry Contest are coming in and sponsors are agreeing to support the effort with a number of prizes. The contest is divided in two categories, foreign and domestic. The Grand Prize so far, donated by sponsor The San Pedro Sun, is $150 in cash for the donmestic category. The San Pedro Sun is offering aone year subscription to the newspaper for the foreign entry. Due to the newspaper being on the World Wide Web, a number of entries have been received by email.

The contest is scheduled for the 14th of February at 7 p.m., a Friday which is actually Valentine's Day this year. Fido's Courtyard has once again (for the sixth year) agreed to host the programme. Master of Ceremonies will be Dennis Wolfe (for the sixth year). Contestants may either personally read their poems, designate a representative to read or the Master of Ceremonies Dennis Wolfe will read. John Greif III will be a judge - for the sixth year. (Mr. Greif is responsible for starting this event, being the founding member of the Bad Poet's Society which evolved into the poetry contest.)

Prizes donated this week are: A round trip to anywhere in Belize courtesy of Tropic Air; Dinner for Two at Little Italy including a glass of wine; dinner for two at Casa Caribe with two complimentary drinks; dinner for two at Capricorn; a candlelit dinner for two at Coco Palms restaurant at the SunBreeze; a $50 bar tab at the Pier Lounge; a $40 U.S. value parasail courtesy of Fido's Courtyard; a $25 bar tab at the Crazy Canuck Bar; two exotic drinks at the Hide Out Bar. More wil be added in the next few weeks.

Poems will be printed in The San Pedro Sun as space permits. There is a limit of four poems per person.
