Lions District 59 Governor Mrs. Liliana Lagos was joined by Gach Guerrero, Papo Alamilla, Jack Westerhold and Giovanni Marin to judge the entries. San Pedro's Mayor, Manuel Heredia Jr. awarded the ribbons and prizes to the winners.
1st place of $200 from the Lions Club was awarded to Marlena Gomez of the San Pedro R.C. School; 2nd prize of $100 from the Lions was awarded to Francine Leslie of the R.C. School; Rhiannon Greif of Island Academy placed 3rd and won $100 rom the Town Board; Freddy Marin of Maestro Reyes School placed 4th and won a $100 savings account from the Belize Bank; Barbara Ancona won a $100 saving account from Atlantic Bank for her 5th place entry. Miss Ancona from the R.C. School was all awarded a trip to Half Moon Caye from the Coral Beach Hotel for her artwork which was judged "most artistic". 6th place of $75 from the Lions was won by Alejandro Paz of Island Academy; 7th place was won by Gonzalo Lara of the R.C. School. He won 3 T-shirts from Ramon's; Kimara Galvez of the R.C. School was awarded 8th place and lunch or dinner for two from the Holiday Hotel; Israel Miranda of the R.C. School won 9th place and a round trip to Belize City from Amigo Travel and Island Air; 10th place was won by Tracy Eiley of the R.C. School. Tracy won a round trip ticket to Belize City on Tropic Air; Delva Guerrero of the R.C. School placed 11th and was presented a gift from Southwind Properties; Noel Wiltshire of the R.C. School was awarded a package of school supplies from Rock's Shopping Center for his 12th place entry. Wally Nuņez Jr. of Maestro Reyes School won a case of Coca Cola from San Pedro Distributors for 13th place.
The Grand Prize in the International Lions contest is $1,500 U.S. and a trip for the winner and parents to the United Nations in New York.
