Sea & Air Festival sponsorships grow - Cuello's Caribbean Rum official rum of festival - Maya Airways Gold Sponsor, Island Air Silver Sponsor

Cuello's Distillery of Orange Walk has become the 1997 San Pedro International Sea & Air Festival's newest Diamond Sponsor, continuing the tradition of having Caribbean Rum named as the official rum of the festival. Cuello's has committed to $10,000 in goods or services for the upcoming event and joins the San Pedro Town Board and the Belize Tourist Board as Diamond sponsors.

Maya Airways and Island Air have also pledged their assistance by contributing airline seats for the visiting performers. Maya Airways has pledged a Gold Sponsorship and Island Air a Silver Sponsorship.

Accommodation chairman, Einer Gomez reported that hotels have to date pledged 22 rooms for six days for the festival. A letter was sent to in-town hoteliers asking for a donation of 10% of their rooms to accommodate entertainers. The response has been excellent and the goal of 30 rooms has nearly been attained.

The liquor concession committee reported that the festival will sell three liquor concession booths this year. Past liquor booth owners were offered first option to purchase a booth for the 1997 festival. 2 booths are available. Interested persons should contact Einer Gomez for details.

Agreements are underway with the neighboring Mundo Maya countries regarding their performances at the festival. The committee expects that by June 1st they will announce the performers and the nights they will appear.

The Sea & Air Festival office is open daily downstairs in the rear of the Town Hall. The office desperately needs the use of a fax machine and a laser printer for the next 3 months. Anyone who can assist with the loan of the equipment will be offered a sponsorship. Call 026-3016 if you can help.
