6th Annual Valentine's Day Poetry Contest
One of San Pedro's premier cultural events of the year takes place next Friday, February 14th, 7 p.m. at Fido's Courtyard. Approximately 50 entries for the San Pedro Sun's Valentine's Day Poetry Contest have been received so far and entries will be accepted until the contest begins.
Participants are urged to attend and read their entries for the judges. For those too shy to read in public, Master of Ceremonies, Dennis Wolfe will read them for you.
Prizes will be awarded for four categories this year. The poem that the judges consider the best of all the entries will be awarded the grand prize as the overall winner. Awards will also be given for the best humorous poem as well as the best romantic poem. A new category this year, Foreign, has been created for those entries received from abroad via E-mail, fax or letter.

While on vacation at Ambergris Caye
I found my true love, the most precious to me.
With her charming personality, so warm
and kind, I had no choice but to make her mine.
Now we are together although missing
Ambergris Caye, always remembering
our romance when we met near the sea.
My love is so deep for her,
she is my only prescription.
Therefore I am writing this poem
hoping to win her a year subscription.
