San Pedro featured on Chetumal TV... Mexican TV to cover Reina de la Costa pageant

His Worship Mayor Alberto Gomez talks about San Pedro

A four man video crew from Quintana Roo spent the May 31st weekend in San Pedro, filming life on the island.

Interest in Ambergris Caye was spurred by Mexican plans for development of their coast north of San Pedro (the Costa Maya project).

5 or 6 separate programmes will be created out of the weekend video taping. The TV crew, in addition to comments by locals and Mayor Nuñez. filmed the tourism industry, Hol Chan, Shark Ray Alley, downtown and the discos. The programmes can be seen in San Pedro this week on channel 10 on the "24 Horas" and "Al Despertar". The crew promised to sent some tapes and these may be used for future tourism promotions.

Councilor Eiden Salazar indicated the TV crew is planning on covering at least the Reina de la Costa International Pageant on August 19th at the Sea & Air Festival, considering it is an international event with a Mexican contestant.
