I've got a D-80 nikon I get what i see in the finder so its probably formated to 35mm frame
Semantics become important here - I wish lenses could be defined according to their angle of view, so that the camera format was irrelevant.
That said, even though your lens is designed for use on a 1.5 cropped camera (what all Nikon DSLRs are, except the D4 and D700) I believe the quoted focal length is the true focal length. That means that is you could fit it on a FF (FX?) camera, even though you can't, it would give you the cited focal lengths. The
effective focal lengths you get on your DX camera will be 1.5* what is cited, so 120-600.
