Reverend David Simpson

David was a familiar figure to many on the island, in his long flowing robe, as he prepared to officiate at many a beach front wedding. Many of the larger resorts here called on him regularly to be a large part of the happiest days of some of their guests lives, where he conducted a great number of weddings or renewal of marriage vows.

David had been in ill health recently, and recently relocated to Belmopan where he was offered a place to stay with friends. On the evening of Thursday, the 28th of May 2009, his health deteriorated to the point that he had to be hospitalized. David passed away that evening in the hospital.

I just want to thank everybody that is helping me in this very hard time.
Right now David is still in the hospital of Belmopan and we are trying to collect money for a cremation since that was David's last wish.
Hopefully I can bring him back to San Pedro and spread his ashes over the Caribbean ocean and set him free.

David died to soon, he was sick for a long time but nothing could prepare us for this.

At least his life was not for vain, he did indeed help a lot of people and he will always be remembered even if his last six Months was very negative due to constant pain.

Once again, I want to thank everybody out there that is helping me.

Anneli, you have my deepest sympathy. I never knew David, but realized that I saw him from afar back in August 2005. I had just arrived at Xanadu and stumbled upon a beautiful wedding ceremony at the water's edge. I looked at my photos last night and found a photo of the wedding. Sure enough, there was Reverend Dave officiating. I had Marty post with the other two photos.

I photographed quite a few weddings on Caye Chapel with Reverand David. He always made the couple feel at ease and was a joy to work with. Sad to see him go so soon.

What an incredible person! David is so ingrained in my San Pedro memories. Such a sweet spirit, that touched so many.
