If the itching keeps you up at night, take a Benedryl (or diphenhydramine is the generic name). It helps you go to sleep, and it is an anti-histamine that helps decrease itching. Oral medications usually help with itching due to rashes better than topical creams. So, for during the day, try non-drowsy oral antihistamines, such as Claritin (or loratidine is the generic name). They should help take the edge off the itching. I also agree with the topical corticosteroid too (hydorcortizone cream) to decrease swelling and help clear the bite sooner.
