Gun crime is on the rise all over the World. Criminals will always get there hands on guns. The penalties for having an unlicensed gun are very high, an automatic prison sentence and no bail while awaiting a court date.
As Elbert stated there are strict gun laws here, It is difficult to obtain a gun permit but not impossible. The law here tries to limit the number of gun permits issued, allowing the Goverment to have some form of control as to who owns a gun. Not like the US where some states have little or no control.

If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.
A bullet fired,cannot be called back.
