But Bobber - that's a good chunk of the point of Law Day, celebrating that our laws ensure we have to rights we do. Seachange - happy belated. You got some years on me - I do know what you mean about practicing! Your Honor - I don't keep any roosters - just a dog or two. I'm an amicus

OK,Law, define "we". We the people of the United States of America (citizens?)? Do our laws apply equally to non-citizens? I believe they do regarding obligations, but not to rights. I also believe laws are just a vehicle for justice. Somehow they have become more important than justice in the public eye. Just my opinion Bobber gets cranky in Chicago.

Actually, I wasn't intending to start a fight. My heart bleeds for some of these people. I know a number of them and they are upstanding productive people. My mind, however, says they are here illegally, and our laws must apply, no matter how much the heart complains about it. How about we take all of the citizens who firmly believe the US is the Great Satan in world affairs and have them give their citizenship to deserving illegals? Oops, that might smack of justice, sorry.

I did not say happy Law Day to all the lawyers because it is not just their day. Perhaps that is part of the issue. All are responsible for the law and respect for it.
I do understand what you said Bobber, the choice of day is ironic and appropriate at the same time. The day is for all people of the U.S. (not just citizens).
Purpose - Law Day, U.S.A., is a special day of celebration by the people of the United States
(1) in appreciation of their liberties and the reaffirmation of their loyalty to the United States and of their rededication to the ideals of equality and justice under law in their relations with each other and with other countries
(2) for the cultivation of the respect for law that is so vital to the democratic way of life.

Ike was really busy during the 50's, 5/1 was also loyalty day.

My calendar says "May Day" for yesterday. Never heard of "Law Day".
BTW Law: this trip beat my butt: sunburned, blisters on the bottom of my feet and a hoarse voice. Vegas did me in - but it was toooo much fun!

Nodamnlimosforthiskid - you can't see anything unless you do the walk. You are not so bad at wandering yourself, miss. For me, Tahoe this weekend for the Sammy Hagar concert and back to Panama in August. Wooo hoooo!
