I'm actually finally going to be able to schedule my trip....yippee!! I've found conflicting information online. Do I need a passport to visit Belize? I've got an appointment to apply for a passport(going to get it whether I strictly need it or not)....but I need to know if I should delay my trip till I get it or not. I'm hoping to come down the first part of June if I don't need a passport and probably the first part of July if I have to have a passport. Thanks ya'll!

spl, how does google get you a passport? Or did you mean to say, you can use google to find websites that may tell you whether or not you need a passport for specific destinations?

TxGypsy, my husband and I will be on AC from July 8-13. We got our passports a few days ago. It took about 5 weeks. Make sure when you go to the passport office (we went to our local post office) you have a CERTIFIED copy of your birth certificate, not just a COPY of the certified copy (clear as mud, huh??). They will keep the birth certificate but return it with your passport. We brought pictures taken at a place that does passport pictures, but they re-did them in the post office. Said they weren't close up enough. Hope that helps!

Yes, but as I said with no real birth certificate it has been a problem. Been trying to get it together for awhile. With only a partical ID it has been taking awhile. Any suggestions gladly accepted.

Yes, but not worried. Everything comes on time. Never late , never early. Sounds stupid I know. But He will come through.

deacon...i was adopted at birth, and had to go thru the state where i was born...not the county or city...being that the records were sealed it took a little longer, and could not be done by phone...had to send any documents pertaining to the adoption...fortunately my adoptive parents had my adoption papers and a copy of my birth certificate...it took a few weeks longer than it did for my friend, who just applied for a regular certified birth certificate...and if i remember correctly, the cost was around $10.00 more...good luck...kerry

Deacon, yes, the original copy, not a copy of the original copy. (Who's on first?) It has to have the original seal from the state or county, like an embossed seal, or a colored seal or some such official sh*t. But if you had that at one time and now just have a basic copy, it won't work. Stop into any main branch post office with a passport office and show them what you have. Hopefully, I'm wrong and what you have will work!

Went thru this 6 years ago. Was to go to London for a week to visit my daughter who was in school there for a semester. Passport office said no, must have certified copy, and because of adoption, did not have. I was adopted at birth, and it seems that my adoptive parents never registered the adoption with the state of Ohio, therefore no birth certificate. It took ten weeks, about $200 in overnight fees, etc. and a lot of anxiety, but, yeah, it finally came 3 days before the trip was scheduled. I finally got a certified copy of my birth certificate a couple of years ago. Good luck, Deacon+!

Deacon,

Try a site called Vitalchek.com. A few years back I renewed my son's passport. The envelope came back with the passport and birth certificate and like a dope I accidently threw away the BC. Ugghhh. I went online to Vitalchek and was able to get a new certificate ( I made sure to get two!) pretty quickly. I just looked at the site and there is a question and answer section regarding adopted children.Follow the steps ect., for your state. Maybe it will help but you had better get moving!!!! Good luck. Rhonda

My passport should get here some time next week....hopefully. I paid for the expedited service. They took my picture at the post office where I applied. The grand total was right at $200 and supposedly I will get my passport in 2 weeks time. Now if only that check I've been wait on for over a month will get here so I can finance my trip I just might be able to enjoy some sun and sand before I'm old and gray smile

Anybody else going in mid June?

$200 for 2 weeks? Yikes! Where do you live?

Here in Houston you can get one for $160 in as little as 4 hours!

TQ... when I need one a few years ago that exactly what I did in downtown Houston. Paid the extra few $$ and waited. Bang, all done and I was on my way. Ok, many years ago. eek

Except when I did it, I think it was $89.00 for immediate service.
