Hey folks,

We're having a bug problem at our house. After a few hours of research, we think they are probably "blister beetles". They don't bite or get into our food, but if they are smashed against the skin, they do leave a blister (hence the name). Please see the link for a picture to get an idea of what they look like:

They are dormant during the day, and actively attracted to the lights in our apartment by night. We have used bug killing spray on them and it works, but then another 100-200 of them come back the next night. We are looking to permanently remove them. Please post any ideas you may have...

Thanks

We have good results with ours. Ours has a fan on the bottom which blows the dead critters into a bag and we change it often. We brought it in from the states with us. Dave

What is the power consumption of a bug zapper? Seems like they may take a lot of juice...

It depends on the type you buy, the cheaper units use a small florescent light and low voltage zapper. Pretty cheap to operate but more service required to clean up after. Ours is a mid range unit and our bill went up 10 BZE per month and we set it up with a photosensor to turn on and off automatically.
