Does a person have to have reservations in advance to get a place to stay at Caye Caulker or can one pretty much drop in?

We are heading down next Jan.

January is high season, so the nicer hotels and guesthouses will probably be booked in advance. You could get lucky and walk in to a fabulous deal, or be unlucky and walk the street from place to place with nothing available. Some of the budget accommodations do not take advance reservations. I would make a reservation at that time of the year.

Many thanks.
I do believe I am too old to face sleeping on the beach. Reservations it is.
