Bone, Palometa, and tarpon are flats fishing with fly its done in the back of the island (west) and guides specialize in this style. configuring their boats for the shallows. Local guides call Palometa 'Pompano'. all three of the species move to the front of the island starting in June when the silver sides blooom, bloom is the only word I know to describe it suddenly the silver sides reproduce by the millions and especially the Tarpon hang out in the cuts swallowing mouth fulls as they charge thru the clouds of silver. The silver sides are getting thinned out by August but the cooler water of the cut and whats left of the food still have tarpon hanging out in the front of the island (east side).
When you pick a guide check out his boat .the guys that are specialist for flats fishing have platforms that you can stand on to get up high enough to see down on the fish.Belize bone fish are said to be smaller, faster and smarter.
Odd thing is I really don't fish I just see it going on and from a diver/tour guide angle I pay attention to fish Behavior.
