My fiance and I are bringing our families down to Belize May 12th-19th to get married. We are from the Gulf Coast of Florida, so are not real excited about a beach wedding since we live on the beach here. I have already talked to Iraida and we can't really agree on a location. We would like to be married at a Mayan Ruin with a small reception at Maruba. I have been communicating with Rebecca at Seaduced and she seemed to be very helpful, but now I haven't heard from her in a month. I am getting nervous and I just want this wedding to be perfect. If anyone can offer me any help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Since you are staying at Maruba and not that far from Altun Ha, why not just speak to them and see what they can suggest.

Oops! Forgot to mention that we are staying at Banana Beach on Ambergris Caye. That seems to be where the problem lies, getting a group of 14 to the ruins and then on to Maruba and back to Ambergris Caye. However, thanks for the quick reply.

When we were on AC in January, we saw a wedding take place at the end of Ramon's dock - they have a large platform and a thatch roof. (We were staying at the Palms and could see the dock from our patio.) The bride was escorted out to the end of the dock and the ceremony was right before dusk so all the white lights along the dock were illuminated. It was really very beautiful to watch, and we didn't even know the people. We walked by Ramon's later and they had set aside a private dining area outside on the deck for the wedding party. This could be an alternative for you - it's not really a beach wedding.

Talked to Rebecca today. It sounds like things are coming along just fine. Whew! What a relief! This is just a small wedding. I can't even imagine what planning a big wedding would do to me. Thanks to everyone for your replies.

Tanisha can take a group that large to Altun Ha easily. Call Daniel Nunez at 011-501-26-2314. He does the stop at Maruba as well.

Nikki. I am getting married on Ambergris Caye and just recently made this decision. Any words of wisdom? We want to get married on the beach. Any problems finding someone to do the ceremony? and what about getting a license? Any input would be great. Thanks!!

If it's a beach wedding you want, definitely talk to Iraida at Belize weddings. Their website is www.belizeweddings.com. I communicated with her quite a bit. But we are using Rebecca now because we didn't want to be married on the beach and Rebecca handles trips to the mainland. However, Iraida is taking care of all the paperwork for us. Hope this was helpful! Congratulations and good luck!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I have another question. I was all set for a wedding on the mainland. Then I read that your marriage is only legal if performed in Belize City. You can have a wedding with a minister later, but you must first be married at the court. Is there anyone who can give me more information on this? We are staying on Ambergris Caye and will only be going to Altun Ha and Maruba specifically for the wedding. Also, is the marriage legal if performed by a justice of the peace or minister on Ambergris Caye. I loved the idea of getting married at the end of the dock at Ramon's and may switch to this if getting married at Altun Ha is too difficult to manage. Thanks for any suggestions!
