You are correct. but it still does not change the fact that my copy is an original, if someone wanted to install it on their computer, then it would be an illegal copy. Their choice. The "crack" removes a file from the Boot files.
Anyway, that is all i am going to post on this, and the offer no longer stands.

the reason most cracks are detected by virus software as a virus is because cracks files normally modify code...not always in a malicious way, but they modify code and virus scans detect that and alert you.

Tracker, no sense in being mad about it, unless you want to be mad at yourself. Good to know that you have a legal copy, but you weren't just trying to help a buddy out. You were offering to sell that help, offering to sell what would have become ill-gotten bootie. Even were you just to give it freely, wouldn't have changed that.

Interesting discussion. I believe that I can get an original unused (sealed) copy of Win7 (I don't know which version - probably the basic one) in England for around GBP70. That doesn't make Bz$300 for one of dubious legality sound very attractive.

In any case, starting with Vista Microsoft are getting much better at spotting pirated software. I have little doubt that a pirated copy of Win7 wouldn't work for long.
