This guy did a literal treasure trove of interviews on social and political challenges facing Belize. He was based in California.

The below clip is a one-hour interview he did with then PM Esquivel and then Foreign Minister (and current PM) Dean Barrow.

Nuri Akbar was a HARD HITTING interviewer. He didn't ask any powder puff questions.

The Bredaa organization sponsored what can be called the first Belize Prime Ministers forum held at Los Angeles in 1992. The forum was hosted by Nuri Akbar and held at the Marcus Garvey school in front of a live audience. This interview was later broadcast via Pacifica radio network (KPFK 90.7 FM) in Los Angeles on the BREDAA produce "Belize Caribbean Pusle" show. The guest included former and current PM Manuel Esquivel and Dean Barrow. Topic covered the economy, social/political challenges, foreign policy and the impact of race on the local body politics of Belize. Many of the issues discussed almost two decades ago remain elusive to the Belizean experiment. This historical interview was release on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Belize independence on Sept 21st 2011. PT 2

Farrakhan message to Belizeans Jan/1986

In Jan of 1986 Honorable Min Louis Farrakhan visited the nation of Belize as a part of his Caribbean tour. Upon his arrival he visited the ancient Mayan temple and paid respect to the indigenous people of the region. The issues the Minister address in 1986 has become more urgent and relevant in Belize in 2011. Today 85% of Belizean arable land is now in the hands of foreign ownership. Meanwhile the country has since descended into urban and fratricidal violence among the youth population. The crisis is fueled by the international drug cartel who use Belize as a transshipment point for their lucrative drug trade in the United States. As a consequence many local institutions have been compromised & corrupted. These include but are not limited to the legislative, judicial and law enforcement. Despite the fact that Belize is rich in several kind of minerals including oil in commercial quantity, the local population essentially remain poor. This lecture is posted as a reminder of what has not been accomplished since this historic and prophetic message was delivered to Belizeans over two decades ago.

Note: the song at the beginning of this tape is a recording done by Min Farrakhan which is reflective of his Caribbean roots.
