Rasta Pasta & Habaneros were my favorites and
the chinese place on the corner (can't remember the name) - ocean front - for great chow mein really cheap.
Iguana Reef Inn was going to start serving food but I don't know if they are yet.
If not the bar is really nice and they had snacks. The view of the sunset from their beach or bar is to die for. Very nice people also!

Nuff love to all my supporters... Please don't come on Wednesdays... it's our only day off for bad behavior... remember we live next door to the Police station... I'm trying to behave.. but you all know my reputation... I can't hide if I tried... but if you do show up on Wednesday you still can get a beer and a Coconut Macaroon,. for you junkies.. out there.. Maralyn, expect 4 of us sometime after the 20th of April. Can you handle the excitement???? I can...finally dug out of all this snow we got...now comes the floods..expecting 1-3 inches of rain..on top of clogged drains...
The list at this time is: Rapier(Scott), Axeman(Mark), Rick and Cheri'.
We promise to come hungry AND thirsty....
Is it April yet?????????

hi yas maralyn!
did you receive my pre-xmas email with hummingbird cake recipe?

re: caye caulker food. the only bad meal i ever ate on the island was at that chinese restaurant, i won't make that mistake again. i agree rasta pasta has yummy food & excellent sauces, dressings and baked items!

get an inexpensive take away meal at the place on the side of the grocery store. it's about $3.50--$4 US for a whole fry fish, rice & beans & coleslaw, not bad lime juice either. you can stop there on your way to the split & take a picnic. also at the split and in the afternoons/evenings on the beach in front of oceanside bar are many independant food vendors with lots of good, cheap, basic food. the jolly roger guy who BBQs lobsters in his yard at night does the best yummy job but i don't know what he cooks when lobster is out of season (now---mid-june.) people who like BBQ chicken go to poor boy's a lot, even locals.

oh, and be on the lookout for kids selling fresh bread & bunbuns in the afternoons. a guy named joe with a bike taxi might be able to hook you up with coconut crusts but you have to ask

bon apetit!

1]Rasta Pasta (Great food all around...best damn homemade english muffins I've ever eaten...HUGE!)

2]Habaneros-(Santa Fe Snapper is unbelievable!..and the Brazillian Pork is pure Heaven!)

3]Cocoplum Gardens-(wonderful fresh food prepared right in front of you in this small intimate restaurant. Food is excellent! Owners are very friendly and spend time with their patrons)

4]The Chinese fast food take out place is Chan's.
Chinese is just one of the many things they serve.
Food is ok...I wouldn't say great...but it will do in a pinch and it's cheap. They have different specials every day for an avg. of $6-7.00 bz
They give a lot of food.

5]There is also a lady just around the corner from Chans (turn left) in a blue house that makes GREAT burritos for $1 each.....chicken, fish and lobster....definately worth a try.

6]Cindy's Cafe on Front St. is also a great place to hang out in the morning. She has specialty coffees and homemade cakes and pastries. Very good! She also has a lending library if you're looking for reading material.

7]Jolly Roger's on Front St is great for grilled fish and lobster. Served homestyle with 2 side dishes and garlic bread. Look for the pink house and picnic tables. Tell Eva and Roger I sent you.
Good music and their daughter Anisa is pure entertainment!!! smile

The Sand Box is still there, though I didn't get a chance to eat there myself. I was told by Charlene from BC's on AC that they have the best breakfasts.

This will be one of my stops the NEXT time.

I like the Sandbox on CC very much, all the beautiful wooden doors, table and chairs. The food is good too.

Maralyn,

I'm including Rasta Pasta in the Belize chapter of Fodor's Caribbean Ports of Call which I'm doing now. So if a bunch of cruise ship day trippers stop by, that's my fault ...
