Thanks for your message and your concern. We are all fine here! The hurricane hit northern Belize only (Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, and the Corozal area). The rest of Belize got a lot of rain and wind, and we did not even get the wind here, just the rain. This morning (Tuesday) it is beautiful out; sunny and breezy, which will help dry everything up. Belize City has wind damage. Some houses lost roofs and some power lines went down, but all in all everything is OK. Ambergris Caye will have boat service today as well as plane service. Nobody lost their life and even people on the outer cayes are OK. The southern cayes should be just fine, as the storm stayed up north. We will hear more as time goes on. As I said, we here in Hopkins did not even have any wind. It was eerily calm, but it did rain for two days and nights.
Again, Belize has been lucky! It could have been so much worse.
Thanks again for your concern and I will be happy to answer more of your questions.
And please spread the word that most of Belize is OK!!
Take care and best regards,
Rita - Hopkins Inn
