has anyone stayed on both AC and CC during one trip? thinking that CC looks a bit too isolated...but a couple of days after a week on AC might be nice...

any advice?

I had considered the doing the same thing. We took a water taxi to Caye Caulker for the day. I have to admit it was a bit too quiet for us. We were there in the off season and even had a bit of a hard time finding somewhere we wanted to eat lunch. (Rasta Pasta was closed, darn.) I'd recommend a day trip and see what you think.

Have you thought of doing a combo trip on the
Caye & Mainland you can do all your snorkel... dive... water... sun stuff... on the Cayes,
& Jungle... Maya... Hike...Flora, Fauna... stuff on the mainland.

The combo of the mainland and AC is a very good idea actually. You get the best of both worlds so to speak. Do the mainland first: ruins, etc., then relax and finish up on AC.

personally...i like the idea of doing a couple of days on the mainland...a jungle or ruins tour or something of that nature...would love to see that...but it might be hard to convince my husband...

he's a water person! hiking and tourist attractions don't appeal to him...he wants to spend his days snorkeling or chilling by the water.

if we did stay on the mainland for a day or two on arrival...any suggestions? where do people stay? belize city or somewhere else?

AC looks perfect for us...but seaside cabanas on CC still looks interesting....

Most people stay somewhere else on the mainland. The only people in Belize City are the people that live there and the people trying to get out and go elsewhere.

You could always just stay on the island and fly over for the trips although that could get costly...

You should try the Hopkins / Sittee River Area.
It is centrally located on the mainland & very close to the Coxcomb Basin most of the resorts can book tours for you or if your have rental car getting to your destination is half the fun. One of the places that we really like and about the same price as seaside cabanas is Beaches and dreams prices includes full breakfast.
You can email me if you have other questions about that area

Most of the mainland properties are located on or near a river so there is the water aspect there as well. And of course beautiful waterfalls & swimming holes in the Pine Ridge.
