I need some general info if ya'll would be so kind. How much is gas in Belize? Can you buy 4 wheelers there and if so approx cost. Is splenda available in Belize(I'm diabetic). Is there any hunting in Belize(this question is for someone else)?

I've been hearing contradictory information on the roads through Mexico. I'd really like to drive rather than fly(it takes many many little airline bottles of liquor to get me in a plane and steady reinforcement of same during flight).....and may God have mercy on whatever poor soul ends up in the next seat. Some folks have told me that the highways are nice.....some have told me that they are basically goat trails. Anyone drove from Texas down to Belize? Thanks!!

Gas is 5.00 US per gallon. Yes on 4 wheelers but almost twice what they cost in the US. Splenda and Equal available but not consistantly. I buy the 800 box in Belize City when I am there. Hunting yes but you cannot own a gun unless you jump through many hoops or want to hunt with a machette or run them down. MAny relatively new highways but they are toll.

I rode the bus from just across the border from Brownsville, Texas to Chetamal, just across the boarder from Belize. The roads were good but I wouldn't drive at night. We had lots of police stops at night. I loved the countryside.

Splenda available all over the island, always. It is safer to fly than drive.
