Description
Vermillion snapper have a long, slender body that is light red on the top half fading to silver for the bottom half. The upper body has short blue lines comprised of tiny blue dots, while the lower body has short yellow lines. Their lower jaw protrudes, they appear to be looking upward and they have a shallow forked tail. Vermillion snapper normally grow to 1-2 feet in length and rarely exceed 2'12 feet. They usually weigh 1-3 pounds. This snapper lives in schools and frequently mix with schools of other snapper and grunts. Vermillion is also known as beeline or mingo snapper.

Habitat
Vermillion snapper are found at reefs at depths of 55-75 feet and in more open water a t depths of 90-200 feet.

Feeding
They feed on small creatures such as squids, small fish, small crustaceans and fish eggs.

Breeding
There is very little known about the Breeding habits of the vermillion snapper
