After visiting the Chechum Ha cave, we had lunch (chicken, rice, beans, and fruit ALL grown right there) then hiked down to Vaca Falls on the Mecal river. It was here that we encountered a little...excitement.

I wanted to get good photo shots of the river at Vaca Falls. Lisa was dispatched into the current for good effect. Unknown to us, the water moving thru that channel created a sucking vortex...I encouraged her to explore further...ooops...

As she clawed and clung to the slippery rocks above the raging falls, I loaded more film and moved to a better vantage point. Actually...in reality this was somewhat of a scary moment. I scrambled around to the rocks just downstream from her and held out my fanny pack for her to grab as she floated by.
