Press Release - Pageants Belize -
March 14th,
2000 - Pageants Belize announces the
34th Annual Miss
Belize Pageant to take place at the Belmopan Civic Center on March
31st starting at 8:00
p.m.
After reviewing dozens of applications, the pageant's
committee has selected six beautiful and intelligent young ladies between
the ages of 18 and 24, to vie for the coveted title. Vanessa Peters,
Shari Williams, Elizabeth Rosado, all of Belize City, Patricia Vasquez of
Stann Creek, Patricia Usher of Belmopan and Shamika Richardson of New
York, will take center stage in the Capital City and will be competing
for prizes ranging from scholarships and jewelry, to round trip tickets
abroad.
The winner will represent Belize in the Miss Universe
Pageant to take place in Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean, on May
14 th. Pageants Belize
has worked hard to give many candidates the opportunity to represent
Belize in International Pageants. That
effort continues this year as the
first and second runner-ups will also travel to other countries to
participate in international pageants.
This year's pageant promises to be a capital
extravaganza and organizers say the new location is setting a trend for
the event to be held in different parts of the country each year, making
it truly national.
As the pageant nears, the media will be able to meet
the contestants at a press conference of which the venue will be
announced shortly. While the pageant date is set, organizers are still
welcoming applications and they can be sent to Tamara Munnings at the
Angelus Press, Queen Street, Belize City by Friday March
17 th. For more
information call 02-35777 or 33989.
Tickets for the pageant are available at the Angelus
Press in Belmopan and Record Shack One and Two in Belize City. The cost
is $20 for reserve and $10 for general admission.
