in Belmopan.
Master of Ceremonies, Lion Beto Marin livened up the
event doing periodical announcements throughout the day. The official
ceremony was opened by members of the San Pedro Dance Company who
graciously performed three dance selections before the crowning. Reigning
Miss Lions Irenie Gonzalez was then escorted on stage by her father, Past
President Lion Ruben Gonzalez. In addressing the gathering she expressed
thanks to the club for choosing her as last year's queen. She reminisced
about the great times she experienced at the last convention held in San
Estevan and wished Luisana the best of luck at the upcoming convention.
Newly elected Queen Luisana Nuñez was then escorted on stage by President
Severo Guerrero who thanked Irenie for the fine job she did representing
the club and thanked Luisana for accepting the position. Irenie then did
the honors of sashing and crowning Luisana who, in accepting, mentioned
that she was honored to represent the San Pedro Lions Club and would do
her best to make the club proud of her. The celebration then continued
with music and plenty to eat and drink.
The club would like to remind any member
of the general public who wishes to join them at the convention that
registration fees are as follows: Lions and male guests - $35 each;
female guest - $30; youth guest - $25. A five dollar discount is being
