filming Aqua Tricks
|
A crew of five people from Mexico and Spain
arrived in San Pedro Monday afternoon to begin shooting a new
educational video - Aqua Tricks. This
Spanish television program is targeted for the entire family, especially
children, and will focus on the marine life of Belize. This is a joint
collaboration between Mexico and Spain, who have united to make
educational videos. The program is expected to be released sometime in
September or October of this year and will be aired on the Spanish
speaking channel Antena Tres of Spain.
The crew consists of Beatrice Ruiz, who conducts the
program; Camilla Villegas, in charge of production; and photographers,
Manuel and German Lascano and David Torres. Larry and Suzannne Parker of
Larry Parker's Reef Divers and their staff will be
the crew's diving
instructors and guides while in San Pedro. The crew will dive and film
the Blue Hole in addition to shallow dives. They will also attempt to
film manatees and other water-related scenery. Mr. Manuel Lascano told
the San Pedro Sun the reason they chose
San Pedro as the film location was due to the amazing underwater beauty
found along the reef of San Pedro. They also appreciated the way the
people of San Pedro carefully protect their natural resources, especially
the reef. Mr. Lascano continued, "I would like to thank all those who are
helping to make this film possible, especially Antena Tres. They have
been instrumental in helping to promote places like San Pedro through
educational TV programs for the entire family."
While in San Pedro the crew is staying at
Mata Chica Resort and will depart on Sunday, May
11th, 2000.
