Lion Dr. Chris Bennett of the Belize City Lions Club was recently installed as the new leader in Lionism for Belize. A Lions induction ceremony was held this past Sunday for the new Cabinet at the National Development Foundation of Belize building in Belize City. During the ceremony, outgoing Governor Lion Leonides Cuellar presented the new cabinet with a financial report from his term in office that showed a bank balance of a little over $11,000. Lion Cuellar commended the efforts of the nation's clubs and their great projects representing Lionism.
Mr. Sylvano Guerrero of the Belize City Lions Club had the honor of performing the installation of the new cabinet after which Lion Bennett addressed the gathering. In outlining his plan of action for the year 2000-2001, Lion Dr. Chris Bennett indicated that during the year, activities will be carried out which will enable the Clubs to revive and renew their commitment to Lionism. Dr. Bennett stated he will strive to see that every club: earns the President's Award of Excellence; visits another club; increases membership; gets involved in the Diabetes Awareness Project; and conducts one major project that has a permanent visual impact. Dr. Bennett hopes that Lion members will enhance activities in their individual Clubs. There are plans to form new Clubs in downtown Belize City, Ladyville, Burrel Boom, Caye Caulker, San Ignacio, San Narciso, Placencia, Orange Walk and Punta Gorda. Lion Bennett also presented his schedule for his official visits to the clubs for the year 2000-2001.
The San Pedro Lions Club is represented in Cabinet meetings by the President and Secretary along with Lions Baldemar Graniel as Region I Chairman; Felix Ayuso Jr. as Peace Poster Chairman and Edilberto Marin as Convention Chairman.
