The San Pedro Town Council has recently
acquired the services of Mr. Alberto Villanueva as Town Administrator.
Twenty-three year-old Villanueva hails from Caye Caulker where he attended Caye
Caulker Roman Catholic School. He then moved to Belize City and graduated from
St. John's High School and St. John's College/Junior College completing his
Associate's Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Villanueva subsequently
received a Bachelor's Degree from the University College of Belize and his
Master's Degree in Business Administration from Valdosta State University in Georgia, USA. He then
moved to Paris, France to study International Business and French at the FIAP
Jeanne Monnet. During his internship, he also visited Belgium, Germany, Italy
and Switzerland. In August 1999, Mr.
Villanueva returned to Belize and was employed for eighteen months by the
University of Belize's Faculty of Business as a lecturer and most recently as
the Internship Coordinator. After deciding to pursue other career avenues, he
came upon the vacancy ad for Town Administrator in the San Pedro
Sun and decided to apply. Tuesday,
January 2 nd, 2001 was Mr.
Villanueva's first day on the job as Town Administrator. He is accountable
directly to the Mayor, Town Councilors and the people of San Pedro in all
aspects where finances and human resources are concerned. Mr. Villanueva
commented, "It seems to me that San Pedro is the best run municipality in the
entire country. I look forward to contributing to more efficient management of
the town and hope to get projects off of the ground in due
time." The San Pedro Sun
joins the Mayor and staff of the San Pedro Town Council in welcoming Alberto
Villanueva to our community.
