Lion President-elect Alex Eiley
|
At the last general meeting of the San Pedro Lions
Club (SPLC), the 2001-2002 Lions Club's officers were announced. Lions
International calls for the president, secretary and treasurer to be named by
the end of May. These three members had been previously nominated and last
Sunday their nominations were accepted. The Board of Directors will be chosen at
the next general meeting. Accepting the responsibilities associated with leading
the San Pedro Lions Club are the following people. Lion
Alex Eiley accepted the position of president, a task that will call on him to
lead the Lions of San Pedro for a period of one year. Alex joined the Club five
years ago. Before joining the club, Alex had been a "friend" of the Lions for
many years aiding them whenever possible. Since his inception, Lion Alex has
displayed great enthusiasm, working tirelessly with the rest of the members. He
has been a key organizer for many fundraisers and social functions and is a hard
worker when it comes to work-a-thons. Lion Alex Eiley has contributed invaluable
service through his "stripes" (ties) with Caribbean Depot. Lion Alex has served
on the Board of Directors since joining the Club and held the position of third
and second vice-president leading up to his recent acceptance as president. He
is married to Lion Carmen Eiley and is the father of two children, Dennis and
Alexis. Lion Felix Ayuso Jr. has accepted the duty
of secretary and has the difficult task of being the President's "right hand."
Lion Ayuso joined the Club four years ago and has served on the Board of
Directors since his inception. He has held the position of two-year advisor,
secretary for two years and third vice-president. Lion Felix is currently the
SPLC Public Relations Chairman. He has also held a Cabinet position as the Peace
Poster Chairman and was recently asked to accept this position again. Lion Felix
has served as the local Convention Chairman for the past three
years. Lion Abel Guerrero Sr., who has been designated
"treasurer for life," will once again take care of the finances for the Lions.
Lion Abel, a founding member of the club, has served as treasurer for the past
ten years. He has also served as president, vice-president and has been a member
of the Board of Directors for several years. Lion Abel has been loyal to his
position and has given clear accountability for the Club's finances over the
years. The new Board of Directors will be installed during
an official ceremony in the near future. We congratulate Lions Alex, Felix and
Abel for undertaking these challenges, hopefully leading the club into another
fruitful and beneficial year, serving our community.
