rate increases, were postponed due to court action initiated against them last
Friday. A representative at the PUC declined to comment on
the situation Tuesday due to this legal action but promised to inform the public
of future dates for the hearings. Upon contacting BTL, it was learned that the
Public Relations Department could not comment due to their manager being "out of
country."
BTL's Attorney Lois Barrow-Young kindly
informed this newspaper that the reason court action was filed was due to "the
PUC proceeding on the basis of a procedural impropriety and that the tribunal is
biased." She further explained that, "One member and the chairman appeared on a
talk show and expressed extremely biased views against BTL."
Until this case is decided, anyone wishing to file
complaints regarding the BTL rate increase may submit their protests by e-mail
at [email protected] or by faxing 02-71149.
