| Pancho Verde

At a well-attended general meeting of
the San Pedro Lions Club last Sunday, Lion Francisco "Pancho" Verde accepted the
honor and responsibilities of serving as president of the Club for the upcoming
fiscal year 2002-2003. Lion Verde, a tour guide by profession,
joined the Lionistic Family 26 years ago as a founder member of the San Pedro
Lions Club. Since his inception, Lion Pancho has lived up to the Lion's motto of
"We Serve" and displayed great enthusiasm, working tirelessly with all his
fellow members. He has been a key organizer for many fundraisers, work-a-thons
and social functions.
For numerous years, Lion Verde has sat on the Board of Directors as president,
treasurer and advisor. He has also headed many of the Club's sub-committees. He
is presently a member of the Clinic and Hospital Committees, and the First Vice
President, a position he holds until July when he will officially take over the
reins of the Club as president. He is married to Pinita Verde who is an
Auxiliary member of the Club, and the father of four children: Eloysita, Patty,
Emily and Ricky. Lion Abel Guerrero Sr., "treasurer
for life," will once again take care of the finances for the Lions, while Lion
Ruben Gonzalez has accepted the post of secretary. The
San Pedro Sun joins the community and the
members of the San Pedro Lions Club in congratulating Lion Francisco Verde in
this newly chosen endeavor and wish him all the best for a fruitful
year.
