of November in Belize City. At present, the Board is seeking nominations for all categories. Representatives of the industry, and the general public as well, are asked for their assistance in providing nominations for deserving individuals, properties or organizations that have made a positive impact on the tourism industry.
A new category this year is the "Front-line Person of the Year" which will be awarded to someone who, as the title suggests, works in the "front lines" of the industry. This is a person who has direct contact with tourists and could be anyone from an immigration officer or a front desk clerk to a baggage handler or ticket agent at the airport.
Other categories are Hotel of the Year, Tour Operator of the Year, Tour Guide of the Year, Receptive Service of the Year, Environmental Organization of the Year, Educational Organization of the Year and Corporate Organization of the Year. The selection committee will be responsible for choosing the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award and Minister of Tourism Mark Espat will choose the recipient of the Minister's Award.
